Already! I say this all the time, but this year did seem to go by even faster than others.
June will be a busy month for us. The last week itself will be filled with field trips, and assemblies, and goodbyes.
Speaking of field trips, it was great fun doing Scientists in School in May. The kids saw some many different aspects to structures, and construction, but the best part was certainly creating stools. I had the great honour of testing them out, and the students built them very well! (Thank goodness for me who had to sit on them.)
The construction unit is one we will be looking at in June, as we are finishing up our studies on plants and animals. Next week, we will be going to Lowe's on a field trip. I am very much looking forward to it!

We will also be going to the spray park and the movie theater this month. This is going to be a lot of fun, and more information will be coming later. You can find the dates on this month's calendar. Please note, that students should be bringing their lunches to the spray park.
June is the wrap-up month, so we will continue to work forward, using the skills we have acquired in French, Math, etc. We have already started the last concept in math, which is measurements. In Grade 1, we don't use rulers, but rather non-standard units of measurement. This week, for example, the students measured different items in the classroom, with plastic chain links. They compared how many links longer or shorter different objects were. Measurement is now added to our continual practice of different concepts, such as number sense, patterns, and adding and subtracting.
This has truly been a wonderful year, and I have so enjoyed teaching these kids. It will be very sad for me to say goodbye. Thank you so much to you parents for your continual support this year, and thank you for choosing French Immersion for your child. Also, a huge thank you to your children themselves. They made this year so special. I have no doubts that they will go on to do amazing things, and I hope to have the opportunity to hear of these stories from time to time in the future.
Merci beaucoup ! Vive la 2e année !
